Crown Point Press Workshops

All of our workshops are full but please email Sasha Baguskas ( to be added to the wait list, and if you have any questions.

During the months of June and July, we offer week-long etching workshops, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are informal technical demonstrations, but in general participants work at their own speed with help from our Crown Point master printers.

The instruction focuses on getting good results from the medium; aesthetic advice is not given. All skill levels are welcome though prior etching experience is a prerequisite for participation in the advanced etching session.

If you wish to discuss your particular background and expectations, or to ask questions of any kind, please telephone Crown Point Press at (415) 974-6273 to speak with Sasha Baguskas, the administrator of this program.

The workshops are filled on a first come, first served basis.

This year, Crown Point Press is offering three workshops in etching.

Week One: Etching, June 20-24
Week Two: Etching, June 27-July 1
Week Three: Advanced Etching, July 11-15

The cost is $1,350 per workshop, including materials except paper and copper which you will be charged for based upon use.

To apply, write a short letter or send an email to Sasha Baguskas ( with the following information:

• Your name, address, phone number, email
• Which workshop session(s) you would like to participate in, with alternates if possible. Please make clear your order of preference for the dates.
• Have you taken our workshops before?
• If you have not taken our workshops, please tell us a little bit about yourself—are you an artist, printer, photographer, student, teacher, curator, or interested layperson in the print world? Have you worked with printmaking before? What medium? How extensively? Please make this brief.

Upon confirmation of your registration, payment is due in full. If you cancel before May 1, we will refund half the fee ($675); there is no refund after that date.

We don't ask to see examples of your art as part of your application, because on principle we don’t make judgments about the art of our workshop participants, either before or during the workshops.

If you have questions call Sasha Baguskas at 415-974-6273.

We look forward to seeing you in the summer!
