Director
Valerie Wade is the director of Crown Point Press and is a partner, with Kathan Brown, in the business. She was born in Springfield, Virginia, and received a BFA in art history and printmaking at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. She pursued further studies in art administration at American University in Washington D.C. From 1984-1987 she was with Szoke Koo Associates, a New York art consulting firm providing art management services to businesses, architects, designers and private clients.
Valerie began working at Crown Point Press in 1988 as a sales representative. In 1993, she became Gallery Director, and in 2006 assumed her current position as director, overseeing day to day operation of the press, including sales activity, and sharing the management of artist projects with Founding Director Kathan Brown.
Valerie is also very involved in the San Francisco art community, having been on the advisory board of the non-profit space Southern Exposure, and a member of both the San Francisco Art Dealers Association and the Northern California chapter of ArtTable. She has been a panelist on how to start an art collection for the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art groups In/Site and GenArt, and has juried exhibitions and organized educational events for other groups. She was on the selection committees for the 2001 Chicago International Art Exposition and the 1999 and 2002 San Francisco International Art Expositions.
